Support at Home budget
When you receive funding under a Support at Home classification you are allocated a budget to pay for your assessed support services, as well as the management costs from your provider to organise and coordinate your services.
The total amount of funds available is based on your SAH classification level and includes contributions from you and the Government.
Your total Support at Home budget is made up of:
Government contribution
The subsidy
The Australian Government contributes a different amount for each Support at Home classification level. The government subsidy for each classification is:

The government contribution is paid directly to the home care provider you choose.
Note: If you are eligible to pay contributions towards the services you receive, the government subsidy is reduced by this amount.
Supplements, if eligible
You may be eligible for extra funding supplements, including:
- dementia and cognition supplement
- oxygen supplement
- enteral feeding supplement
- veterans’ supplement
- viability supplement
Your contribution
Depending on your financial situation, and the services you receive, you will be asked to contribute towards your Support at Home services.
Your contributions, based on your means assessment
When receiving services under the Support at Home program you will contribute towards the cost of some services, while other services will be free of charge. You will only pay contributions for services you receive.
These contributions are different for everyone, based on your individual income and assets, including your pension.
Your contribution rates are calculated by Services Australia.

You will need to complete an income and assets assessment with Services Australia to find out the exact amount.
Any additional fees agreed to
Additional service fees are any other amounts you have agreed to pay for additional care and support services that wouldn’t otherwise be covered by your Support at Home budget.
